The launch of the association is an initiative established to enhance current guidelines and to ensure that members conform to the highest ethical standards to ensure the continuing integrity and success of true crime production. The association’s main mission sees its members committed to the protection of parties associated with true crime content, including the teams who work in one of television’s fastest growing genres.
In light of the exponential growth and demand for true crime programming, appetite for the genre has led to the creation of compelling documentaries and series, and it is equally as important to maintain and continue to demonstrate best practice, especially when dealing with sensitive subject matters and the family of victims.
Each of the founding members has signed up to a series of guidelines which puts victims and their families at the centre of the production process. The aims of the initiative are being communicated to the broadcast industry, victims’ groups and other representative bodies to ensure that all parties to true crime productions are aware of the associations commitment to the highest standards.
Membership of this non-profit association is open to TV and film production companies, digital or podcast content prodcos, or individuals directly engaged in the production of true crime content for domestic (UK & Ireland) or international consumption.
Please note that we do not accept submissions of programme ideas or talent and would ask that you contact our members directly.
